On the secondary school level, PTA expands to include students. Students are encouraged to become members, making PTA at the school PTSA. Local PTSAs include students in leadership activities and events. Students are organized at the local level in different ways as best fits each individual school. Ideas and suggestions for student members can be found in Utah PTA's PTSA handbooks.

Getting a PTSA Started
Young people's ideas and opinions are important. PTSA clubs provide a good opportunity to develop leadership skills, communication skills, and investment in their own communities. To have a successful PTSA, students need to "own" it and be interested. These resources will help you get your own started, including activities you can incorporate into your own PTSA.
Battle of the Bands
The Utah PTA Student Involvement Commission sponsors Battle of the Bands,
a yearly event where bands from high schools accross the state come together to compete for a chance to win
studio time, CD’s, and a opportunity to play before a REAL Salt Lake soccer game.
