Knowledge Base: Assessments (PEEP, KEEP, RISE, DIBELS, AAPL, ACT etc...)

In Utah, we perform both formative and summative testing.  The Utah State Board of Education webpage on testing in Utah.

Understanding Assessments: Formative or Summative?

The difference between formative and summative testing.

Summative assessments evaluate student learning at the end of an instructional unit by comparing it against some standard or benchmark.

Formative assessments monitor student learning with the goal to provide ongoing feedback that can be used by instructors to improve their teaching and by students to improve their learning.
