Join A Utah PTA Committee or Commission. Utah PTA is looking for volunteers to join committees for the 2026-2027 PTA Year. The term begins on July 1, 2026 and ends on June 30, 2027.
Eligibility:
Must be a PTA member.
Participation Expectation:
Attend scheduled committee meetings via zoom and occasionally in-person and complete assignments as requested. All committee members will sign the Utah PTA Community Partners Agreement annually.

Advocacy Committees and Commissions
Legislative Advocacy Committee (LAC) - LAC meets monthly throughout the year and weekly during the legislative session and meets through zoom. Members work individually with commissions to evaluate and recommend Utah PTA positions on pending legislation.
The Community Engagement Commission will engage all members of the community, business, religious, and government entities in improving the quality of life and education of all children.
The Education Commission helps parents become knowledgeable about the issues which affect the education of students, takes positive action to promote the welfare of children and youth at home and at school, and promotes programs which benefit and strengthen education through parental involvement.
The goal of the Family Life Commission is to promote healthy family relationships, thus resulting in the success of children in all aspects of their lives.
The Health Commission covers many topics relating to children’s physical and mental health including nutrition, physical health, screenings, bully prevention, suicide prevention, mental health and substance abuse prevention.
The Safety Commission aims to assist in providing a safe environment at home, at school, and in the community for children and youth, with the goal to educate and involve parents, teachers, students, and community members in safety issues.
Director Committees
The Communications Committee markets and promotes PTA, in cooperation with Membership and Community Engagement Committees. Members of the committee will: review media for information pertaining to PTA, children, and schools, be members of the student scholarship selection committee and be responsible for workshops at convention and other positive public relations activities.
The Leadership Committee assesses, reviews, and prioritizes the print and information technology (IT) needs of Utah PTA and coordinates all efforts to meet those needs. Members of the committee with assist with: developing and updating leadership resources and training materials including the updating of Handbooks.
The Membership Committee markets and promotes PTA in cooperation with Communications and Community Engagement Committees. Members of the committee with help with: developing and updating membership resources, evaluating the state membership awards and making recommendations, and attend leadership convention in the spring and help with awards presentations and workshops upon request.
Utah PTA Committees
The Advocacy Resolutions Support Committee will assist in research and verifying of the documentation of new and updated resolutions under the direction of the Utah PTA Resolutions Committee.
The Digital Wellness Committee will promote the development of the skills and knowledge to effectively use the internet and other digital technology for kids and adults throughout Utah. Any PTA member who have an interest or passion for digital citizenship, digital safety, and digital wellness are welcome to join.
The goal of the Diversity, Inclusion and Outreach (DIO) Committee is to increase minority representation on PTA Committees and Boards and equip them with the leadership skills necessary for building a more inclusive school environment for all families while increasing awareness of cultural and linguistic challenges and inclusivity best practices. The work of this committee will allow Utah PTA to more effectively represent the children and their families across the state, increase membership opportunities, strengthen Utah PTA’s effectiveness and provide resource support.
The History Committee will preserve the history and legacy of Utah PTA. Duties to include: scan or take photos of historical documents and photos, preserve and catalog permanent records, and assemble and preserve the records of activities and achievements of Utah PTA during the current year, and assist the president in preparing an annual Utah PTA History. The committee will safeguard the history record book and other materials pertinent to the history of the association while finding and maintaining an area at the Utah PTA office to display unit history books.
The Military Families Committee will work to provides resources and opportunities for enriching activities for the service men and their families. Military families bring a richness of experience to their schools, their communities, and their PTA units.
The School of Excellence Committee is dedicated to providing resources, and implementing strategies to support local units and communities in their efforts to effectively engage all families and increase their ability to positively impact student achievement while using the National PTA Program, School of Excellence.
The Special Needs Committee, a coalition of special needs groups, parents and teachers, assesses what elements, programs, and resources are needed for local PTA units and for special needs schools to help meet the needs of the families and teachers of children with special needs across the state and to help them feel included and valued.
