Artist Statement

In the poem "The Hill We Climb" Amanda Gorman tell us that we don't have to be the best to get better. Her poem is about America and she says, "we are far from polished, far from pristine," and that means we're not perfect, but we still try, and we still hope. In the film, I chose to make an art piece of Amanda Gorman when she was reciting the poem at 2021 Presidential Inauguration. Creating art isn't a perfect process. Sometimes you make mistakes that you can't fix, but they help you find a new way of seeing beauty.
