Accepting imperfection isn’t just about accepting that something isn’t perfect. It’s about accepting that imperfect things can still change. When we have a narrow-minded perspective, it is hard to accept imperfection and have a positive sense of self. Aeternus, the title of my piece, means “Eternal.” By embracing an eternal perspective, we are patient with ourselves and others. We accept our imperfect realities as stepping stones, instead of deadlines. We embrace ourselves and our experiences. In my piece, the turbulent sections representing doubt and uncertainty eventually give way to careful consideration, and then to confidence as the imperfection is embraced.
