When my sister, Ellie, was just three days old, our family was told that she had two holes in her heart and that she would need surgery. She ended up having three open-heart surgeries before she was six months old, then another soon after her 7th birthday. She has a mechanical heart valve and a pacemaker, not to mention this large scar on her chest. She also has a huge laugh, tons of energy, loves dancing, and makes friends easily. Last week, we celebrated her 10th birthday. She may have an imperfect heart, but she's the perfect sister for me.
