My piece, “Breaks,” reflects this year’s Reflections theme, portraying a young musician learning a difficult piece. During a lesson, her instructor plays it perfectly, but when she practices alone, her mistakes seem tragic. However, within those mistakes, she discovers hints of a new, mysterious melody. By week's end, she masters the original, but also creates a version that contrasts with its bright tone. “Breaks” is not just about accepting imperfection, but about embracing it as an essential part of creativity and discovery.
