Utah PTA is proud to honor Dr. Sydnee Dickson as the 2026 Friend of Children Award recipient. This award is the highest honor bestowed by Utah PTA and recognizes individuals in Utah for their prominent, outstanding, and extraordinary service and contributions on behalf of all children.
As part of this special recognition, we are creating a memory book to present to Dr. Dickson, filled with stories, memories, and photos from those whose lives she has touched throughout her career. We would love to gather memories spanning from her time as a classroom teacher to her service as State Superintendent.
Don't have a story, but just want to share congratulations??? We want those submissions too! Share congratulations and a picture for Syd to read for the coming years.
Our goal is to make this a book that Syd will be able to treasure for years.
We invite submissions from former students, families, friends, colleagues, PTA leaders, and community members — anyone with a meaningful memory or story to share. PLEASE SHARE WITH ANYONE WHO MIGHT KNOW AND LOVE SYD.
Also, please share this with others who may know Syd and would like to be part of this special tribute.
What we are looking for:
- A short story or memory about how you know Syd and the impact she has had on you, your family, your student, or your community
- A photo with Syd or an image that helps tell the story you are sharing
- Deadline for submissions: May 20, 2026
