General Description: 

This bill creates a written notice requirement related to special education.

Highlighted Provisions: 

This bill requires local education agency to give written notice to a parent of an eligible student when a relocation of child’s special class may occur. Notice shall be sent at least 30 days before the change. Parents are to be given full information about the change and a chance to respond and give comment before the LEA makes a final decision.

Impact on Children: 

It is an all too common occurrence for the location of classrooms for students with disabilities to be changed. This bill would make sure that parents are notified in advance of any changes and will give them a chance to give input and for that input to be considered by administrators before a final decision is made.
