Jesse Cook - I Belong Wherever I Grow

Artist Statement

I made a plaster cast of my hand holding a dandelion because dandelions remind me of myself.

Dandelions are the flower of the military child. They can grow almost anywhere, even in concrete. They get blown by the wind and land in new places, just like me and my family. We move a lot because my dad is in the military. Sometimes it’s hard to start over, but like a dandelion I find a way to grow, make friends, and belong everywhere I go.
