Madeline Morrison - Sewn Together

Artist Statement

My pillow is called “Sewn Together.” I collected fabric squares from 26 people. These squares represent groups I belong to like family, church, school, and teams. We are like the squares and are “sewn” together when we’re united in groups. I picked the lemon fabric for the back because of the saying, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” The people who gave me fabric have helped me overcome difficult times. Not only do I belong, but we all belong. Even though every square is different in its own special way, they all fit together to make my pillow beautiful.
