This is a painting that visually represents my family bonds, personal history, and place within a lineage. I was curious to what my grandma did for my dad and his siblings when I was younger; I never got to meet her. The flowers symbolize her love for gardening and flowers; the tropical setting represents Hawaii. My dad and his family lived struggling. They lived in poverty, my grandma was a hardworking, stay-at-home mother of five. She started different at-home businesses for cash. My grandma simply wanted a better future for her children and a better garden; they immigrated to Hawaii.
