Amira Kirby - Belonging

Individual, isolated notes, resonate through silence. The black outlines stand out, alone against blank white paper. A simple accompaniment arrives, supporting the right hand. The accompaniment and rhythm switch multiple times, moving the piece to comfortably flow from note to note. Alternating between 3/4 and 6/8 changes the sound by simply emphasizing different notes/beats, representing all the little adjustments we make on our journey toward belonging. The opening minor-key theme is revisited in a major key, then minor again, coming full circle, symbolizing how we create places of belonging together, adapting/adjusting, while remaining true to ourselves, eventually experiencing authentic belonging.
