Mr. Smith is an amazing Choral Teacher. He started at Mt Jordan when my daughter was in 6th grade. She took different choir classes each year because she loved Mr. Smith so much. He was so passionate about music and about helping the kids see their own potential. He didn't give the kids sheet music like traditional choirs do. He taught them about all kinds of musical styles and encouraged them to explore and grow in those styles. Choir concerts were epic and full of variety and talent. At times, I was just amazed that I was listening to Middle School kids. I loved attending each of those concerts. When Mr. Smith started at Mt. Jordan, the job was part time as there was not enough interest in choir to make it a full time position. In two years he grew the program into a full time teaching position and brought back the school musical that had been gone for many years. While Mr. Smith has moved onto another school, he built in his students a love for music that I am sure he is continuing to do. He is amazing.
