Resolved, That PTA and its constituent associations support the adoption and enforcement of laws that restrict the manipulation of handheld and portable communication devices while driving;

NPTA Resolution on Lead Poisoning Prevention
That the National PTA and its constituent associations support the removal of all sources of lead from Resolved, That the National PTA and its constituent associations advocate for lead testing and the remediation of lead contaminated soils and water; and , That the National PTA and its constituent associations support the removal of all sources of lead, including its complete removal of lead from all paints, building materials, and consumer products.

That Utah PTA support appropriate regulations to ensure quality child care. That Utah PTA help to educate parents concerning the dangers of leaving all school children unattended, even if the children appear to be mature and have learned survival skills.

That Utah PTA support educational programs and intervention strategies designed to do the following: 1) Teach firearm responsibility through use of Utah PTA approved and recognized programs. 2) Encourage parents to talk with and educate their children about gun safety and responsible firearm usage; and be it further

National PTA Resolution on Teen Driving Safety

Utah PTA and its constituent associations promote and support the adoption and enforcement of laws, at all levels of government, to end the recruitment, force or involvement of a minor in conduct or violence of a sexually nature and all forms of sexual exploitation;

Utah PTA and its constituent associations advocate for the protection of rights of victims
and support provided measures for the physical, psychological, and social recovery of
victims of sexual exploitation;

Utah PTA Resolution FAM 2014-1 Intergenerational Poverty Resolved, That Utah PTA support programs that help mentoring families, including those that focus on the individual or family for a significant amount of time, teaching parenting skills, promoting continuing education, encouraging good health care for themselves and their children, and helping children succeed in school.

Resolved: That Utah PTA and its constituent associations advocate for adequate laws to protect children in all areas of child abuse, neglect, maltreatment, and exploitation

Utah PTA Resolution HEA 2019-2 Youth Suicide Prevention
Resolved, That Utah PTA and its constituent associations support education and training to parents, teachers, administrators, students and the community that focuses on recognizing warning signs, teaching intervention skills, and providing safe messaging in regards to suicide; and be it further
Resolved, That Utah PTA and its constituent associations support evidence-based suicide prevention programs focused on improving mental health including, but not limited to, teaching students, teachers, and parents mindfulness skills, coping skills, decision making skills, and helping them to build connections and improve dispositions;

Utah PTA Resolution HEA 2019-1 Prevention & Promotion of Healthy Behaviors

Resolved, Utah PTA and its constituent associations will support evidence based programs to decrease risk factors and increase protective factors in our homes, schools and communities; 

That Utah PTA support state and local ordinances that appropriately address regulations of
ENDS products; and, be it further resolved That Utah PTA support the position that any revenue generated through taxation of ENDS
should support tobacco cessation and prevention programs; and, be it further

That Utah PTA work to inform parents about the concerns of radon exposure and make them aware of low cost test kits available for their homes

Resolved, That National PTA and its constituent organizations will support strict enforcement of driving under the influence laws and the passage of more stringent laws that would remove from the road drivers under the influence of alcohol or other drugs;

Resolved, That Utah State PTA support stiffer penalties for alcohol and drug possession by minors; and be it further
Resolved, That Utah State PTA support legislation to suspend driving privileges of minors for alcohol and drug possession offenses.

That Utah PTA support programs that help mentoring families, including those that

Mass Media Position Statement 
Resolved, That Utah PTA and constituent associations urge its members at all levels to advocate for federal and local laws, regulations and programs that prohibit digital content that is considered illegal or harmful to children;

That Utah PTA recognizes the State Board of Education as the body elected to establish policy and standards for education in the State of Utah That Utah PTA support legislation which enacts direct, nonpartisan election of State School Board members and opposes partisan election of the same body.

Resolved, That Utah PTA and its constituent associations promote and support the adoption and enforcement of laws, at all levels of government, to end the recruitment, force or involvement of a minor in conduct or violence of a sexually nature and all forms of sexual exploitation;

National PTA Gun Safety and Violence Prevention
Our association advocates for the following: Universal background checks, that require any individual or entity who sells a firearm to conduct background checks and fill out proper paperwork so that guns can be traced. This includes sales at gun shows, private transactions and online sales.

National PTA Firearms Position Statement
Given the history and tradition of strong support for the safety and protection of children and youth, PTA supports federal restrictions on firearms that would:
• Require a waiting period and comprehensive background check for all individuals prior to purchasing a firearm, to screen out illegal firearm purchasers such as convicted felons, violent misdemeanors including domestic assaults, and drug-related offenders;

Resolved, That the National PTA urge its state branches, councils, and local units to work with other community groups and agencies to maintain a continuing surveillance of safety matters in their areas; and be it further

Resolved, That state laws and local ordinances be monitored to assure adequate safety regulations for the protection of children and youth; 

That Utah PTA recognizes the importance of parental roles and encourages parental involvement in all aspects of their children’s lives;

Resolved, That Utah PTA work with state and other agencies to educate parents and children of the potential dangers of firearms if handled inappropriately or stored in a way that allows children easy access to these firearms.
